Use of Educational Software in Mathematics Teaching: Case Yucatan, Mexico

This paper presents a collection of software projects that have been used as tools in teaching mathematics, and an analysis of their use in the state of Yucatan, Mexico. Today teachers must adapt their strategies to a new way of teaching, for which various programs are being used as complementary tools for teaching various subjects and thus improving students academic performance. Among the subjects chosen to implement new teaching techniques is mathematics, which is considered one of the most challenging subjects for students. The aim is to encourage and facilitate the learning of mathematics.

Carlos Miranda-Palma
Master in Computer Science for the Institute Technology of Monterrey in Mexico, is professor of the Autonomous University of Yucatán. His researcher lines: Voice recognition, Artificial Intelligence, Human Computer Interaction

Maximiliano Canche-Euán
Obtained his degree in Computer Science from the Autonomous University of Yucatan (UADY), Mexico in 2000 and his M. Sc. degree in Informatics Technology from Monterrey Technological Institute (ITESM), Campus Monterrey, in 2002. Maximiliano Canche works since 2003 at the Autonomous University of Yucatan, as a full time professor. His research interests include Databases, Mobile development and Animation.

Erika Llanes-Castro
Received a degree in Computer Science from the Autonomous University of Yucatan (UADY) in 2002. She is about to receive a Computer Science degree from Monterrey Technological Institute (ITESM), Campus Estado de Mexico. Currently, she is a full time academic technician at the Autonomous University of Yucatan since 2002 in the department of computer in Tizimin Mexico. She has participated in software engineering development projects.
