Energy Efficient Protocols in Wireless Sensor Networks:A Survey
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) consists of huge number of Sensor Nodes (SNs) with sensing, communication and processing capabilities. SNs have limited energy supply, storage and computational capacity. In recent years energy efficient computation is a major concern in WSN. The critical aspects include reduction in the energy consumption of SNs so that the network lifetime can be extended to reasonable times. For this purpose many novel innovative techniques based on energy efficient computation have been proposed. In this paper, we present a brief analysis on energy efficient computation protocols. We have also presented a comparison of these protocols.

Dr. Kavita Taneja
Dr. Kavita taneja received her Ph.D (Computer Science ) in 2011 from Kurukshetra University, M.Phil (Computer Science) in 2007 from Alagappa University and Master of Computer Applications in 2002 from Kurukshetra University. She is working as an Associate Professor in M.C.A at M.M.I.C.T & B.M; MM University Since Feb 2003.She has published 20 papers in National/International journals/conferences. She has reviewed manuscript at international level. Her teaching and interests include Simulation & Modeling, Mobile Adhoc Networks and Wireless Sensor Networks. She has bagged Best Paper Award, 2007 at international conference for the paper entitled “Dynamic Traffic Conscious Routing for MANET” at DIT Dehradun.

Amandeep kaur received her M.Tech (Computer Science) in 2011 from Maharishi Markandeshwar University and B.Tech in 2005 from Kurukshetra University. She is pursuing Ph.D (Computer Science) from Maharishi Markandeshwar University. She is working as Assistant Professor in CSE Department at MM University since August 2005.Her teaching and intersts includes Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Operating System and Wireless Sensor Networks.
