E-Governance Reforms In India: Issues, ChallengesAnd Strategies - An Overview
Government and public sector organizations around
the world are facing to reform their public
administration organizations and deliver more efficient
and cost effective services, as well as better
information and knowledge to their stakeholders. In
developing countries like India, where literacy level is
very low and most are living below poverty line,
people are not even aware about the benefits of e-
Governance activities and people do not use
Information and Communication technologies much,
there exist a number of problems to implement e-
Governance activities. E-Governance is considered as
a high priority agenda in India, as it is considered to be
the only means of taking IT to the Common Public.
Developments in e-Governance provide opportunities
to harness the power of ICT making the business of
governance inexpensive, qualitatively responsive, and
truly encompassing. This paper highlights the EGovernance
reform in India with special reference to
the issues, challenges and strategies of E-Governance.
