Comparative Study Based on Open Source Content Management Systems Mambo and his Fork - Joomla and Elxis

The paper is dedicated to content management system Mambo evolution and its derivatives (Joomla and Elxis) who created a revolution in the field of web development and design. This paper explains all basic terms regarding content management system, open source, fork bases, historical development of Mambo and its derivatives (forks) as well as comparative analyzes of their characteristics. The CMS systems are described, as comparative analyzes of their results of work speed.. Finally the author made a recommendation regarding the user friendly characteristics, indicating their advantages and disadvantages.

Dejan Viduka
MSc Dejan Viduka was born in Osijek, Croatia in July 30, 1980. Currently he is pursuing Ph. D. area of Technical Science at Singidunum University Belgrade, Serbia. Having 15 years of experience at IT sector (hardware, software, SEO, Internet, e-business, e-marketing, operating systems, CMS systems and Open Source systems) and extensive experience in the development of Open Source projects, and is also a member of Elxis Community and provides expert assistance to customers from Serbia. As an IT expert, he worked on many projects for well-known clients from Serbia and from abroad.

Igor Lavrnic
MSc Igor Lavrnic was born in Vinkovci, Croatia, on November 9, 1969, currently living in Belgrade, Serbia. He obtained his B.E. degree in Production Management from Technical Faculty in Zrenjanin, University of Novi Sad, Serbia in 2006. He received his Masters degree in Business Communication Science from Technical Faculty in Zrenjanin, Novi Sad University, Serbia in 2010. Working in banking sector since 2003 on senior management positions. Currently she is pursuing Ph. D. in the area of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery at Department of Technical Science of Singidunum University Belgrade, Serbia.

Ana Basic
MSc Ana Basic was born in Belgrade, Republic of Serbia, on April 22, 1981. She received the Master of Science Degree in engineering from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade, in 2006. Since 2006 she is working in Republic Agency for electronic communication, in the Department of regulation. Since 2010 she is licensed designer for telecommunication networks and systems of the Serbian Chamber of Engineers. Currently attending PhD studies at Singidunum University in Belgrade, department of Technical Science.
