A Critical Review of Development of Intelligent Tutoring Systems: Retrospect, Present and Prospect
This paper introduces Intelligent Tutoring Sytems along with their typical architecture, developmental history, past and present systems and concludes with a broad discussion on wide spanning focus areas for future developmental research. A critical analysis of the developmental history highlighting the theme behind the developed systems, their purpose and the key ITS concept, have been presented. A closer look revealed that, development of a certain concepts proved to become a turning point for all future development of that era. All such key concepts and subsequent developments have been examined. This paper proveides recommendations and pointers, to the areas that need to be probed further and drilled down to establish ITS success for generations to come.
